Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, has gifted ₦10 million to a man (Jeremiah Obaji) for trekking 633 kilometers from Lagos to Abakaliki.

Obaji, a 37-year-old businessman, began the journey on August 22 as a show of support for the governor’s peace efforts in the Effium/Ezza-Effium community of Ohaukwu LGA, which has been plagued by violent clashes since January 2021.

He completed the trek in 17 days, traveling during the day and resting at night in villages along the way, armed with only two T-shirts and a single pair of shoes.

Obaji reached Abakaliki on Sunday morning, welcomed by cheering supporters before meeting with the governor.

He was officially received by Chief of Staff Emmanuel Echiegu, who represented the governor. Nwifuru praised his resilience and commitment, rewarding him with a ₦10 million cash prize.

Speaking afterward, Obaji explained that his walk was inspired by the governor’s role in fostering peace and helping resolve a conflict that had claimed many lives and displaced families.

Mr. Obaji’s media aide, Wisdom Nwedene, also lauded Governor Nwifuru for his efforts in restoring peace and stability to the troubled community.

Man celebrates engaging the female soldier who punished him for driving recklessly on election’s day.

The man known on TikTok as Salinas Etsako revealed that he and his soldier fiancee are set to work down the aisle.

According to him, he met his wife on election day when she gave him frog jump as punishment for driving recklessly.

Nigerian man baffled as he returns to see that his car has been turned into a mini shoe shop in Ikeja.

The man revealed that he had parked his car somewhere in Ikeja, Lagos and went about his business.

Upon returning to the spot where he parked the car, he found out that the van had been modified.

Apparently, an entrepreneuring young man had used a large piece of fabric to cover some sections of the car before hanging shoes on the fabric.

The man confronted the seller, and jokingly asked whether he would give him one shoe since he had used his car to sell his business.

A heartwarming video captures the emotional moment a young Nigerian apprentice, commonly known as a Nwa Boy, is surprised by his boss with his long-awaited settlement package.

In the viral clip, the young man was led by his boss and others into a fashion store, unaware of what was about to happen.

Moments later, his boss revealed that the shop had been fully set up for him as his reward for years of loyal service.

Overwhelmed with emotion, the apprentice broke down in tears while those present praised both parties, the apprentice for his obedience and dedication, and the boss for keeping his promise and rewarding him honourably.

The gesture has since sparked an outpouring of emotional reactions on social media, with many Nigerians applauding the Igbo culture of apprenticeship and settlement that gives young people a head start in business.

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has called on residents and indigenes of Edo State to embark on a two-week period of fasting and prayer to ward off evil and promote peace across the state.

The directive, issued on Monday through the Obamedo of Benin, Efosa Igbinomwanhia, instructs all Benin sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to observe the fasting and prayer from September 15 to September 28, 2025.

According to the statement, the fasting will be observed daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is in line with the kingdom’s age-old tradition of seeking divine blessings ahead of the annual new yam festival.

The monarch explained that the practice is intended to seek blessings from God and the royal ancestors for a bountiful harvest, protection from sudden death, and overall peace in homes, families, and the broader community.

The statement reads:

“His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, uses this medium to inform the general public that from 15 September 2025 to 28 September 2025, all sons and daughters of Benin Kingdom, and by extension, indigenes and non-indigenes living in Edo State, are to embark on two weeks of fasting and prayer.

This is in line with our age-long tradition that before the commencement of the yearly new yam, it is important that we fast and pray to God Almighty and the royal ancestors for a bountiful harvest, protection from sudden death, and for peace and tranquillity in our individual homes, families, state, and the country at large.

All Benin sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora are to fast and pray during this period.

The two-week fasting period is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The Omo N’Oba prays to God Almighty to grant us peace and happiness as we all embark on this fasting and prayer.”

Veteran juju music legend Ebenezer Obey has dismissed circulating rumours about his death and claims of suffering a stroke, calling them “lies from the kingdom of darkness.”

In a video shared on Instagram, the 82-year-old legend appeared alongside his two sons, joyfully singing to reassure fans of his good health. The clip was captioned: “Stop the rumours!!!! Ebenezer Obey is alive and well.”

Addressing the false reports, Obey clarified that he had only travelled to London for personal care. He expressed disappointment over the spread of fake news, noting that some even went as far as sharing fabricated images of coffins to back up the claims.

“Everything they have said is nothing but lies that came from the kingdom of darkness. I am alive, I am alive, says the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you very much. I don’t have a stroke. I came to London to look after myself,” he affirmed.

This is not the first time the music legend has had to put rumours about his health to rest. Similar reports circulated in 2020 and resurfaced earlier this year, sparking unnecessary concern among fans.

The Co-founder of band Supertramp, Rick Davies, has passed away at the age of 81

According to a report from TMZ, Rick Davies died at his home on Long Island on Friday, September 5, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Rick Davies leaves behind his beloved wife, Sue Davies, whom he married in 1977.

During his lifetime, he played a crucial role in shaping the band’s sound by blending progressive rock.

Additionally, he continued to lead Supertramp after Roger Hodgson’s departure in 1983 and stopped due to health concerns.

The Osun State Government has launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at expanding digital access for residents, students, businesses, and communities across the state.

The initiative, announced on Monday by the State Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, is designed to increase opportunities across education, health, agriculture, commerce, and other sectors.

Initially, Imole Wi-Fi will be available at key government buildings and public spaces, including the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and sites within the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy.

Governor Ademola Adeleke described the service as “a gateway to opportunity,” adding that it will help cut barriers, connect people, and stimulate growth across the state’s economy.

The Special Adviser overseeing the project, Azeez Badmus, said the launch is the first phase of the initiative. He added that as the program expands, more government services and sector-specific digital tools will be made available, ensuring all residents benefit from Osun’s digital future.

Imole Wi-Fi is expected to be rolled out to additional locations over time, positioning Osun State as a pioneer in digital inclusion in Nigeria.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has denied a report that it could shut its petrol unit for two to three months. The spokesman of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, described the report as “fake”.

Reuters had reported that the petrol unit at the 650,000 barrel-per-day Dangote refinery may be shut for two to three months for repairs, quoting industry monitor IIR Energy. According to the report, the unit was said to have been shut since around August 29 after catalyst leaks.

The report added that the refinery plans to attempt to restart the 204,000 bpd Residue Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit on September 20, but major repairs and equipment replacement could keep the unit shut for months.

However, Chiejina debunked the claims, describing them as fake news.

The Dangote spokesman wondered why the news agency used ‘could’ if it was sure of the planned shutdown.

“Fake news. Why ‘could’ if they are sure?” Chiejina told our correspondent when he was contacted for a reaction on Sunday. Reuters had reported that Dangote’s RFCCU was expected to be shut for at least two weeks.

The Dangote refinery, which began processing crude in January 2024, has slashed the Europe-to-West petrol export trade significantly. The European Union and the United Kingdom’s gasoline exports to Nigeria fell from an average of about 200,000 bpd in 2024 to about 120,000 bpd in the first half of this year, according to Kpler data.

It has also shipped two gasoline cargoes to the United States East Coast, expected to arrive in the New York area later this month, a major milestone as industry observers were closely tracking if and when the plant would produce fuel meeting US standards.

The Dangote refinery is planning a ramp-up to 700,000 bpd by December 2025. Meanwhile, it was reported that the refinery in August imported Ghana’s Sankofa crude, a grade heavier than the usual light sweet grades.

“In early August, a notable milestone was reached with the arrival of a 900 kb Suezmax carrying Sankofa crude from Ghana, the first time Dangote has imported Ghanaian crude. Sankofa, a medium-sweet crude, is heavier than the typical light sweet slate processed at the refinery. It is comparable to other medium-sweet grades that have been received to date, such as Brazilian Mero and Tupi and Angolan Pazflor,” Kpler reports.

The Dangote refinery had repeatedly decried its inability to secure enough feedstock locally. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, said the country must ramp up production to meet its local and international demands.

As reported on the Kpler platform, crude deliveries to the Dangote refinery surged to a record-high monthly volume of 570,000 barrels per day in July. Approximately 60 per cent of these arrivals consisted of light sweet crude from the United States, while the remaining 40 per cent was made up of Nigerian grades.

“This marks the first time that US crude has overtaken Nigerian supply in Dangote’s import mix, a shift driven by ongoing challenges in securing domestic barrels and the cost competitiveness of WTI,” the report read. The diversification, it was stated, highlighted Dangote’s flexibility to process lower API grades.

Looking ahead, Dangote is expected to continue sourcing from a mix of West African and US grades, supplemented by domestic barrels, including Amenam, Bonny Light, and Escravos.

Crude inflows suggest the refinery is running at elevated levels, according to Kpler. “Based on observed inventory builds and market intelligence, we estimate that current operations are around 445 kbd, representing 68 per cent of total capacity, up from 400 kbd (60 per cent) in Q1. Throughput is expected to remain near these levels over the coming months, with a dip to around 400 kbd anticipated during December–January maintenance,” the report further read.
