Footballer, Neymar da Silva Santos Sr., the father of Brazilian forward Neymar Jr., has stated that his family will not provide the €1 million required for Dani Alves’ bail from a Spanish prison.

Alves is currently incarcerated awaiting the outcome of an appeal against his rape conviction.

In a statement released on Thursday, Neymar Sr. emphasized that while his family supported Alves financially during his trial, they will not do so again.

“For us, as a family, this matter is closed. Period,” he stated.

However, Neymar’s father did not specify the exact amount they contributed to Alves’ defense.

The 40-year-old Alves was sentenced to four years and six months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.
