The African colossus, who has sold out iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden, State Farm Arena, and a slew of other venues around the world and would be headlining at least three stadium shows in 2023, recently announced that he would kick off the new year with an homecoming performance in Lagos.
The event, which was slated to start by 6 p.m. Nigerian time on January 1, 2022, did not see the African Giant climb the stage as of 3 a.m. Nigerian time on January 2, 2022. According to a video shared by fans, Burna Boy, who had not performed at that time, took the mic and decided to rant on how the organizers messed up the sound, claiming that such occurrences are the reason why he doesn’t like to perform in Nigeria.
This is not a joke. This is Burna boy addressing the waiting crowd at his concert at around 3am for a show that was to start at 6pm or thereabout. Mad country pic.twitter.com/wOOR0sN8jk
