AI image of Trump dressed as pope after Pope Francis’ death trends as American becomes new pope

An AI-generated image of U.S. President Donald Trump dressed as the pope has taken social media by storm, just days before Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected as the first American pope in a historic Vatican conclave.

The image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, showed the president in full papal regalia, including the traditional white cassock and papal cross.

    U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump shared the altered image along with a comment to reporters, saying, “I’d like to be pope; that would be my number one choice.”

This playful remark, made just before the conclave began, sparked a whirlwind of laughter, confusion, and controversy online.

The image was later shared by the official White House X account, further amplifying the buzz.

However, it wasn’t long before the New York State Catholic Conference condemned the post, expressing disapproval of what they described as a disrespectful gesture just days after the passing of Pope Francis, who died on April 21.

As the world processed Trump’s joke, the Vatican’s announcement on Thursday of Cardinal Prevost’s election as new Pope sparked widespread reactions online, with some suggesting that the AI-generated image wasn’t just a casual joke but an indirect push for the next pope to be American.

    Netizens Reactions…

Ekle Samuel reacted;  “Pure politics… Donald Trump passed his message before this election. He posted his picture with Pope’s uniform telling the whole world that the next Pope is coming from America.”

Alexander Onung said: “Political Christianity, how did trump knew.”

Nneka Ursula reacted: “We know the outcome from the moment Trump shows of his support via Al Post.”

Joshua Efetobor said: “This New Pope seems and looks spiritually minded person.

    May God guide him.”

John Mark said: “It isn’t just an ordinary joke, it is well projected signals to the cardinals So it’s called Trump’s Effects.”

Nazah Kanu wrote: “Late Pope from the American continent, new Pope from the American continent.”

“Are Asians and Africans not also part of the church?

Akpabio sues Natasha Akpoti over ‘mocking’ apology to him

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has taken legal action against embattled Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of mocking him with a satirical apology letter posted on her social media accounts.

The lawsuit, filed on May 7, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeks to compel Senator Natasha Akpoti to remove the post and issue a formal apology.

The legal action, filed under case number CS/384/25, also demands that the suspended senator publish a written apology in at least two national newspapers and provide an affidavit confirming her compliance with these conditions.

The satirical apology, shared on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Facebook page on April 27, has sparked controversy due to its mocking tone directed at Akpabio.

    In the post, Senator Natasha sarcastically wrote;

“Dear Distinguished Senate President Godswill Akpabio, It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence.

“I have reflected extensively on my unforgivable failure to recognise that legislative success in certain quarters is apparently not earned through merit, but through the ancient art of compliance — of the very personal kind.

“How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… “requests” was not merely a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the unwritten laws of certain men’s entitlement. Truly, I must apologize for prioritizing competence over capitulation, vision over vanity, and the people’s mandate over private dinners behind closed doors.

“I now realize the catastrophic consequences of my actions: legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes. For this disruption to the natural order of “quid pro quo,” I bow my head in fictional shame.

“Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections. I remain Yours in eternal resistance, Senator Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken.”

Akpabio’s legal team, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, argues that the post violated a court order issued on April 4, 2025, which prohibited both senators from making public statements related to ongoing sexual harassment allegations until the case is concluded.

The legal team claims that Natasha’s actions breach the order and contribute to ongoing public controversy.

  • Naira falls to N1,612/$1 at official market

Naira falls to N1,612/$1 at official market

The Nigerian naira continued its downward trend at the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), closing at N1,612 per dollar on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

This marks a slight depreciation from N1,609/$1 recorded the previous day, according to data published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Despite the CBN’s ongoing efforts to stabilise the currency, including increased foreign exchange market interventions and a marginal rise in external reserves, the naira’s value remains under pressure.

Wednesday’s trading session saw increased volatility, with the naira exchanging as high as N1,615/$1 and as low as N1,605.01/$1, reflecting a broader in-day range compared to Tuesday’s narrower band of N1,609.5/$1 to N1,603/$1.

Analysts and market participants attribute the latest decline to persistent liquidity constraints and delayed foreign currency inflows, which have limited the supply of dollars in the market. These issues continue to challenge the effectiveness of the CBN’s interventions and underscore the fragile state of Nigeria’s forex landscape.

The CBN has reiterated its commitment to ensuring stability in the foreign exchange market, but traders note that without stronger inflows and improved investor confidence, the naira could remain vulnerable to further depreciation in the near term.

    VeryDarkMan breaks silence following release

Famous social media activist Martins Otse, better known as Verydarkman (VDM), has broken his silence following his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Reacting to the money laundering allegation, VDM expressed confusion and disbelief over the accusation, pointing out that he does not possess the kind of wealth associated with such a charge.

“How would they level allegations of money laundering on someone who doesn’t have money?” he questioned in the video. “I have done so many charity \[projects], they wonder how. They don’t know I use debt for charity.”

Despite the ordeal, VDM appeared in good spirits, assuring his followers that he had been released.

“Anyway, we are outside, with my lawyer of course,” he added.
