Influencer earns ₦40,500 in 3 hours during first 24 hours as Bolt driver.

He quickly detailed how, within just 3 hours, he made ₦40,500, explaining how it was possible.

He wrote: “As a Bolt driver, I did 4 trips in 3 hours and this is how much I made.”

To support his claim, he shared screenshots and a video showing how the process unfolded.

Following the post, many concerned individuals flooded the comment section to share their opinions.

    See some reactions below:

@Ayo_Mastermind: “Technically, you’ve made just about 17k profit. Net income is 30k. Fuel takes another 13k.”

@franksdonald: “From your estimate how much do you think you may have used to complete all 4 trips.”

@enricodaveed: “Its not worth it, thats why the cars of most bolt drivers make funny noises and sound like a friggin diesel generator. You barely have enough for fuel and to pay your bills. When your car breaks down you start to cut corners.”

@alexxitonurreo: “I don’t know if they paid you for this promo but it’s impossible to make this much in 3 hours, not even during peak hours. If you achieve it by some sort of miracle, you’ll be left with nothing less than 10k, after removing fuel and commission cost. Bolt is no longer profitable.”

@WritesNero: “dont forget the fact that theres is a signup bonus as well. Also the cost of fuel for riding for 4 hours. The fuel should be within 15 to 20k ir even more depending on the vehicle type.”

@OladapoOla1991: “Yes it’s possible… How much fuel did your car consume should be the big question here.”

@AkinfosileSola: “Fuel 15k, commission 6k, maintenance of car set aside 10k, feeding 2k. total 33k. Profit take home 7k. E no make sense at all.”

@anizzy01: “You’ll shouting fuel cost, u no go buy Oil?? Total quartz is 20k , tire 🛞 can go bad and u patch.”

DG — NYSC corps members to receive ₦77,000 monthly allowance

Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that the Federal Government has approved an increase in corps members’ monthly allowance to ₦77,000, with payments set to begin in February 2025.

Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina, Ahmed also revealed that corps members will no longer be posted to communities facing security threats.

“The ₦77,000 monthly allowance was approved by the Federal Government and the corps members are expected to reciprocate the government’s gesture during their service year.”

Additionally, Ahmed emphasized that the NYSC will ensure all corps members are deployed only to safe and secure locations throughout their service year.

Dear Ajaokuta, I know Your Man, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, says Onoja

My lady of steel, the envy of all men, I hope this letter of mine meets you well?

Recently, your thoughts have dominated my contemplations. There is no single day in the last few weeks that I didn’t think of you. You know how worried I have been about you but I can’t really do anything to help you because the calibre of men that rally you are way too sophisticated that one with just words of mouth can’t make sense in your case.

My lady of steel, I have told you this in the past and I will never fail to tell you the truth; your beauty is so charming that it has attracted both real and fake lovers to you. Sometimes I wonder how you have even survived all that have been coming your way since you were born till date. You must have been carefully formed with special steel parts to have been this beautifully strong and still standing courageously. It doesn’t look like you are already forty five years plus. You still remain the darling you have been from day one. Your potentials are so much that men are willing to put down all their bank accounts for you. In fact, you are mysteriously charming.

As a friend and confidant, I want to ask you this one question and I will need candid reply from you. You know how long we have come, be honest with me, my lovely Ajaokuta. Please, how comes you are glowing with high hopes recently? Don’t leave me to guess. I equally have lots to tell you when next I write. However, I am sure that your current radiant situation is directly connected to your man, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu – I know the key things he has been doing to get your full potentials out for the benefit of all. Don’t think I am far away from you even though you haven’t been seeing me around. I am very close because you mean a lot to me my dear lovely Ajaokuta.

I need to hear more from you because I know Prince Shuaibu went all the way to Russia to bring you the original doctors who helped in delivering you to your mother Nigeria forty five years ago. He wants to see you proudly on your feet and also your sister, NIOMCO. He really loves you from those fundamental steps he took.

Your man, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu is not just preparing for your full takeoff but wants you to be more relevant as he is busy courting partners for you across the globe. He is working on reliable partners that will meet you at home in Nigeria to ensure more productivity for your people. You think I don’t know all these? I just need to know more from you when you reply my dear friend, Ajaokuta. What about the New Delhi, India commitment by Messrs Jindal Steel as well as the Luan Steel Group of China where billions of capital in FDI were committed? These will gladden your people greatly my dear friend, Ajaokuta.

My lady, the partnership your man, Prince Shuaibu signed with the Ministry of Defence to commence the production of Military hardwares in your domain is a very strategic one. Do you know what that means for your nation’s security as well as yours? In fact, the man who brought this young man to take care of you at this critical point means well for you in all ramifications.

As your man, Prince Shuaibu is working to ensure your goodness from the outside, he is also working internally, having critically designed an in-house roadmap for the revitalisation of the steel industry by a technical team to chart the course of the revival of your entire steel system. My beautiful lady of steel, soon your dream will come true.

My lady of steel, I am not writing you this to make you blush but it’s the truth – I know your man, he was trained in one of the best institutions in this world and his network is wide. Trust me, as an investment banker who plays at high level, he has a rich network to make your dreams come to life. By his training and on-the-field experience, being meticulous is a natural thing to him. He is really encouraging and incorporating private steel players in the revival plans of your nation and when you are finally up, my lady, you will shine brighter as there will be many to compliment you. He is really being strategic in your case.

The plan Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu has for you is not just to leave you in the hands of top players alone. He is preparing both men and women at the grassroots to benefit greatly when you are up. Hence, the intensive boot camp programme to train your nation’s artisans.

My dear lady of steel, Ajaokuta, your man is operating at the apex of the the Federal Ministry of Steel Development for your good. He is working out your goodness in tandem with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the steel sector.

Finally, as I expect your honest reply, know that there are many out there who always make public show of how they love you but are actually doing nothing for your good. They are constantly taking advantage of you because they know how much people love you.

So, until I hear from you, just know that I know your man already. Therefore, do not hide anything from me in your reply.

    Yours sincerely,

  • World Bank — CBN must sustain inflation control measures

World Bank — CBN must sustain inflation control measures

The World Bank Group has said that the Central Bank of Nigeria must stay the course in its attempt to tackle inflation.

This was revealed by the Senior Economist for Nigeria, World Bank Group, Dr Sameer Matta, at the launch of the 2025 Macroeconomic Outlook of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group themed ‘Stabilisation in Transition: Rethinking Reform Strategies For 2025 and Beyond.’

The Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN hiked the benchmark rates a cumulative 875 basis points in 2024 to tackle rising inflation.

Speaking during a panel session at the event, Matta said, “I think what is critical in terms of inflation is to stay the course. I think that the central bank needs to continue to be focused on making sure that inflation is under control. Obviously, part of it is related to the supply side. What can be done to improve the yield on the agriculture side? What can be done to improve the link between the rural areas and the urban areas?

“There is the question of what can be done on the trade policy side. One would be to increase production locally, but that would take time. One of the things that can be done on the trade policy side is to think through which sectors could be targeted to allow some tariffs to be adjusted.”

Matta went on to explain that the cost of not doing reform was two per cent of GDP for fuel subsidy and three per cent of GDP for FX subsidy.

“That’s five per cent of GDP, and that is extremely high. I would liken these reforms to someone with a hard medical condition who had to make tough choices. Let’s not forget that at some point in Nigeria, the debt service to revenue was 100 per cent; now, the good news is that we are around 50 per cent, and that is a big decline.

“The cost of reforms comes mainly from high inflation, and in the case of Nigeria specifically, food inflation is impacted by FX and the fact that lots of agricultural products are impacted by the price of petrol, etc. That means the impact of these reforms is being felt by the most vulnerable.

“It is very important that the government continues on the reforms on social protection but also accelerates the roll-out of these cash transfers. It is more important to finance them over the future. It will be very important to continue to encourage the authorities to scale up and accelerate these interventions, which are time-bound and targeted at those who are really impacted and done through a digital way to avoid any potential misuse in the future.”

Also speaking on inflation, the Nigeria Country Representative, International Monetary Fund, Dr Christian Ebeke, reiterated calls for coordination between the fiscal and monetary authorities.

He said, “It’s important that efforts to bring inflation down by the fiscal authorities are being done in the context of better coordination. For example, one of the key decisions that took place last year was the commitment by both the central bank and the fiscal authorities to strengthen coordination.

“We didn’t see Ways and Means accrue again as we have seen in the past year in Nigeria, and it was welcome. This is something that should bring inflation down by tightening financial conditions but also by reducing money in circulation.

“The other important thing for the fiscal authorities to do is to tackle any distribution consequences of the reforms that have been implemented. Naira reforms or the completion of the fuel subsidy removal. We know that these key reforms in Nigeria will have redistributive consequences on the most vulnerable, and they may not be able to cope.

“Fiscal authorities have a key role to play because the transmission lag of fiscal policies is shorter compared to monetary policies. So, issues of social protection are very important. That is how fiscal policies can complement what the monetary authorities are doing,” Ebeke said.

On the social protection programmes of the government, Ebeke called for initiatives with a human face.

“On social protection, there is a cash transfer programme that is being strengthened. It is all about how we can think about fiscal consolidation with a social agenda or human face,” he said.

On the Ways and Means, Ebeke averred, “We should not have been in that position to start with. Cleaning up this big problem is taking time, and the persistent effect of the Ways and Means on inflation and, in general terms, on financial conditions. The CBN is trying to mop up liquidity. Just the practice of having deficit monetisation, as has been practiced in Nigeria for years, is now over.

“Again, big congratulations to both the CBN and the fiscal authorities for curbing that. Now, when it comes to the securitisation of these, central banks around the world have a memorandum of understanding with the fiscal authorities on this type of liability management. The securitisation has the benefit of spreading out the maturities. Also, this has been done transparently, so this is good. With Central Bank independence and fiscal prudence, you should not be seeing this type of pressure on the macroeconomy, including the effect on the parallel exchange rate and inflation.”

  • Minimum wage: States set to meet January deadline as Oyo pays N80,000

Minimum wage: States set to meet January deadline as Oyo pays N80,000

Organised Labour in four states and the Federal Capital Territory have expressed optimism that their state governments will begin the payment of the new minimum wage by January ending.

This was after the Oyo State Government announced that it had begun the payment of N80,000 minimum wage to workers.

While Imo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom states governments and the FCT have set January ending for workers to receive a raise in salaries, workers in Ebonyi and Cross River states, among others, are not certain about when their government will commence paying new emoluments.

Lagos, Rivers, Edo, Ogun, Kogi, among others, started paying the new wage in 2024. Some other states, however, agreed to begin payment in 2025.

President Bola Tinubu had in July 2024 approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers, including civil servants, and pledged to review the wage every three years.

However, Labour’s plan to go on strike on December 1, 2024, in states that had yet to pay the new wage failed as some state chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress withdrew at the last minute.

States that dissociated themselves from the strikes were Oyo, Imo, Sokoto, Katsina and Akwa Ibom, while Kaduna, Nasarawa, Zamfara, FCT confirmed their participation in the industrial action.

To quell the anxiety trailing the delay in the payment of the new minimum wage, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, in December 2024, promised that many states and the Federal Capital Territory Administration would implement the new national minimum wage by January 2025.

He made the promise when a delegation of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.

While assuring the delegation, Dingyadi called for patience, even as he explained that his ministry was evaluating the compliance level of various state governments as the implementation had just started.

Meanwhile, the NLC chapters in Imo and Sokoto states told Sunday PUNCH on Friday that they were expecting their governments to pay the new wage considering the rise in the prices of food and other items.

The Chairman of the Imo State NLC, Uche Nwigwe, said workers were looking forward to the payment.

He said, “We know that prices of goods have gone high, but we’re looking forward to it. Let us collect it first, and then we will know the reaction of Imo workers as it concerns the next line of action.”

Similarly, the Sokoto State chapter of the NLC expressed confidence that the state government would pay the N70,000 new minimum wage by the end of January.

The Secretary of the union, Hamisu Hussaini, said the NLC and state government had agreed on the commencement of the payment.

He said, “Yes, based on our discussion with the state government, the new minimum wage will commence this month (January). To make the implementation run smoothly, the state government has commenced the verification of its workforce. The ongoing exercise will not affect the implementation as we have already trashed that out with the state government.”

In Akwa Ibom State, the government promised to begin the payment of a new minimum wage of N80,000 to its 45,985 verified public servants in January.

The state Governor, Umo Eno, who authorised the payment, said it would take effect from November 1, 2024.

The TUC chairman in the state, Dominic Abang, said public servants were anticipating the payment of the new wage to cushion the inflationary trend.

He said, “Despite the soaring cost of living, the Akwa Ibom workers are waiting in anticipation of the payment of the new minimum wage. It’s something they have been expecting for a long time.”

Also, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, FCT chapter, Kabir Abdullahi, expressed hope that payments would begin in the coming week, noting that the area councils had yet to confirm receipt of minimum wage payments from the Federal Government.

“We are hoping that when they pay salaries, they will pay arrears as well, based on the agreement. The Federal Government has shared allocations; perhaps it has not dropped in their accounts yet. Only the councils can know if it has dropped or not, and it is only when they pay salaries that we will know.”

    Oyo pays new wage

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government deposited a total sum of N12bn into the pockets of its workers on Friday, indicating the commencement of the new minimum wage.

In a statement on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the N12bn paid on Friday was a result of a promise kept by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on the N80,000 minimum wage for the state workers from January 1, 2025.

He said, “One of the implications of the new wage is that workers on Grade levels one to six now enjoy a minimum of N50,000 increment, while the salaries of those on Grade level 17 shoot up by over N180,000.”

Other govs should pay – NLC

Speaking, the National Treasurer of the NLC, Hakeem Ambali, called on state governors not only to implement the new minimum wage, but also pay outstanding arrears, stressing that workers should not bear the burden of delayed negotiations.

While describing the payment of the minimum wage as a legal obligation that must take effect as required by law, Ambali expressed confidence that other governors who had yet to pay would honour their commitment in the interest of industrial harmony.

“Labour is hopeful that these governors will pay the arrears and the new wage because it is a function of the law and it must take effect. I believe they (governors) will honour the agreement in the best interest of industrial peace and harmony,” Ambali said.

He said to cushion the impact of inflation, the Federal Government needed to embark on another wage adjustment and additional economic interventions.

Ambali argued that the new wage structure had failed to provide real economic relief for Nigerian workers.

The TUC National Deputy President, Tommy Etim-Okon, warned that it was necessary for states to pay the new minimum wage considering the hardship in the country, including the recent increase in the telecoms tariff.

He said, “Any governor that fails to meet up with the payment of minimum wage to the workers is automatically an enemy of his own government because payment of salary is a right, it is not a privilege and to whom much is given, much is also expected, you cannot expect much when you are not giving much.

“We have already asked all the state branches to be intentional in engaging the government, aside from the minimum wage, the consequential adjustment is the real thing because it is the consequential adjustment that will determine the pay based on grade level and steps.

“Every commencement of the payment must have arrears whether they want to commence in March, let the arrears take effect from the effective date.”
