Kemi Olunloyo’s son shares his battle with depression on 24th birthday

Controversial writer Kemi Olunloyo’s son, Olukayode Joshua Taiwo, has opened up about his struggles as he turns 24.

Kemi Olunloyo celebrated her son’s birthday with heartfelt messages and memorable photos.

While the mother expressed pride in her son’s aspirations, Olukayode took to social media to share his own experiences, revealing a more challenging side to his life.

In a candid post, Kemi Olunloyo’s son detailed the hardships he has faced since moving to the United States a year ago.

He described feeling isolated and mistreated by his extended family, highlighting the stark contrast between their expectations and his reality.

Olukayode also expressed gratitude for his mother’s unwavering support throughout these trials.

The young man’s revelations have sparked discussions about the complexities of family relationships and the challenges of navigating cultural differences, particularly when moving to a foreign country.

He wrote; “Happy Birthday to me and to being in America for 1 year already. I’m getting closer to my mid 20s and it’s haunting me cause I feel alone in this world and I feel like time is running out. Coming back to a country I haven’t lived in for 11 years all by myself to restart my life from all the abuse and depression I went through in Nigeria from my extended family and only having my mom while I was there. Being here alone with no support system has been hard. No parents, friends or family to support but I’ve made the most of it myself. I’ve been homeless countless times, losing countless jobs, having accidents and ppl stealing from me at my lowest. since being here from being kicked out because it’s clear I wasn’t wanted there to staying with abusive ppl that treated me like a sub human all in the name of that favor. Had a car accident and lost my first car to a reckless driver, had to go to court for the first time cause I didn’t have insurance and I was a new driver, slept outside, slept in my car all while working 3 jobs and trying to pursue a career in modelling. Everything I went through made me stray a bit from God but I’m writing this as something to look back on when everything eventually gets better and also because people don’t see the struggle off social media they just see the good moments. Hopefully I can write a book on everything I experienced so far in America. Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes and cheers to 23. Lemme stop yapping now just wanted to get that off my chest

  • Reminisce gets brutal, insists his children will never do music

Reminisce gets brutal, insists his children will never do music

Nigerian rapper, Reminisce gets candid on his reluctance for his children to follow in his footsteps by pursuing music careers while emphasizing the shocking struggles of the industry.

The singer made this known during a recent interview on Pulse On The Record alongside fellow rapper Vector the Viper.

    Reminisce

Reminisce revealed the unpredictable nature of the music industry and why he believes it’s not the ideal path for his kids.

“No, I don’t want my children to do music, and I don’t think they should. I’m not speaking as an African parent; I’m speaking from my experience,” Reminisce stated.

Emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the industry, he added, “The thing is, music is crazy. You can be the most talented person and end up with nothing; it’s like football. I have friends whom I used to play football with, and some of them ended up having professional deals, and I have people who are 43 like me and are still hoping to get something.”

The father-of-two emphasized that while he would support his children’s ambitions if they chose music, he’d insist on education as a priority.

“It might never happen, and so what I would say is, ‘Fine, get yourself a basic education first that you can pursue.’ So if it ends up coming, fine, and if it doesn’t, fine. But to say that I start pushing them tonight from the onset, no, because it’s really tough. Its crazy so I would prefer to put you on the right path but the primary thing, the education, get that first. If you want to pursue it, I would support you. But music at as a first choice? No. It is rough and difficult; it is less than 5% of people that make these things.” he explained.

Speaking on the importance of a “backup plan,” likening the industry to a high-stakes lottery, Reminisce added, “For every Ronaldo you see, there are 9000 people who didn’t make it. Hey, the basics are done first to have something to fall back on in case it doesn’t work out. I’m not going to convince any child to say it’d work out for them because it worked out for me. It may never happen.”
