Plantashun Boiz fight continues as 2Baba rejects Blackface’s album feature

Popular singer Blackface has disclosed that 2Baba, his former bandmate in the iconic group Plantashun Boiz, declined to collaborate on his new album, The Return.

In a recent interview with Television Continental (TVC), the 51-year-old songwriter revealed his intention to bring back the band once again.

    blackface

He stated, “I just released the Plantashun Boiz album now called The Return and it has about 18 to 19 tracks. Faze has a feature, but 2Baba is not on the album because he is not ready to be part of it. We already had the time to go to the studio, but they don’t want it. If somebody gives you the impression that he is not ready to do this anymore, do you keep waiting or move ahead? So I moved ahead.”

Blackface emphasized his desire for recognition, particularly after Kennis Music CEO, Kenny Ogunde testified to his claims about the controversies trailing the African Queen track.

“I am not demanding anything, just my respect. I have put in so much work in this game for the people that are even benefiting from it today, for the young ones that came after. I put in a lot of work; you can’t just take me out,” he added.

For years, Blackface and 2Baba have been embroiled in a public feud, largely centred on Blackface’s claim that he wrote the hit song African Queen, which 2Baba popularized. This dispute, which began in 2015, has often made headlines.

However, in October 2023, Blackface extended an olive branch to 2Baba, publicly asking for forgiveness for past grievances and proposing a reunion for Plantashun Boiz in 2024.

In an Instagram post, he wrote:
“To be or not to be? @fazealone @official2baba @blackfacenaija @plantashunboizofficial, why not? My people oya make una talk put mouth for this matter! We are on a mission for world peace and it’s not a small-time thing! Unity is strength and not division. Let’s go champs.”

Despite the reconciliation efforts, 2Baba’s absence from Blackface’s latest project suggests that the rift between the two may not be fully resolved.

  • FG opens up on hiring foreign mercenaries to tackle insecurity

FG opens up on hiring foreign mercenaries to tackle insecurity

The Nigerian Federal Government FG has reaffirmed its stance against using foreign mercenaries to tackle the nation’s security challenges, describing such measures as unsustainable.

Instead, the government is focusing on fostering partnerships to localize the production of military equipment, particularly through collaborations with China, to minimize dependency on imports and the associated delays.

According to reports, this position was emphasized on Thursday during a joint press conference held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The event featured Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, who was in Nigeria on an official visit to strengthen bilateral relations.

    Yusuf Tuggar

The visit underscores the deepening ties between Nigeria and China, as both countries reiterated their shared commitment to enhancing regional security and driving economic growth through strategic partnerships.

During the briefing, Ambassador Tuggar stated that relying on private military contractors, regardless of their origin, is not a sustainable solution to Nigeria’s security concerns. He highlighted Nigeria’s leadership role in fostering peace and security across Africa and called for cooperative efforts within the continent.

“We are committed to working with partners like China to localize the production of military hardware,” Tuggar said. “This approach will eliminate unnecessary delays and enable us to achieve self-sufficiency in meeting our security needs.” He also stressed the importance of developing both kinetic and non-kinetic military capabilities domestically.

Wang Yi’s visit builds on President Bola Tinubu’s earlier state visit to China in 2024, which paved the way for greater collaboration in economic and political areas. Discussions during the visit included agreements on energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and petrochemical development.

The Chinese Foreign Minister lauded Nigeria’s leadership in Africa and welcomed the nation’s plans to issue panda bonds under the bilateral currency swap agreement, initially established in 2018 between the Central Bank of Nigeria and the People’s Bank of China, with a value of CN¥15 billion.

Wang Yi also encouraged Nigeria to explore opportunities for issuing panda bonds—renminbi-denominated bonds in China’s domestic market—highlighting their potential to fund critical infrastructure projects, such as railway modernization.

  • Mark Angel: 2024 hardest year of my life, I lost $3.7m in forex

Mark Angel: 2024 hardest year of my life, I lost $3.7m in forex

Famous Nigerian content creator Mark Angel has opened up about facing a tough year in 2024, revealing that he lost $3.7 million in forex trading and ended up drowning in debt.

In a post on Instagram on Sunday, Mark Angel described how this loss led to one of the darkest times in his life. He felt like everything was falling apart, his properties were taken by loan sharks, and the pressure of debt made him feel hopeless.

Mark also shared that while he was healing through therapy, another setback came, a scandal that shook his career and made him realize who his real friends were. He said the experience exposed fake friends and pretenders but also brought him closer to God, taught him invaluable lessons in resilience, faith, and the essence of divine grace.

He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his friends, family, pastor, ex-wife, daughters, and social media manager, who stood by him during the challenging period.

He wrote, “The year 2024 began like every other year, but I had no idea how much it would test me how much it would break me, yet ultimately reshape me. It was the year I lost everything. I trusted the wrong hands in forex and lost all my money. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle. The weight of the loss, over $3.7 million was suffocating. I was drowning in debts, and one by one, I watched all my properties slip into the hands of loan sharks. It felt like my world was crumbling, and in my darkest moments, I considered ending it all.

“But God… If not for His mercies, I wouldn’t be here writing this. He sent angels into my life when I needed them the most. Blessing, my friend who became family, never gave up on me. My pastor and his wife stood by me, praying and guiding me. My daughters, Victoria and Mila, reminded me of the beauty of life, even when it felt unbearable. My ex-wife Mandy extended a hand of kindness I will never forget. My son, Schoolboy, showed me strength beyond his years. And Bright, my social media assistant, stood as a pillar in moments I thought I’d collapse.

“While I was still trying to heal, undergoing therapy to recover from the trauma, life dealt another blow. A scandal hit, shaking the foundation of my career and questioning the loyalty of those around me. It was in that storm that God began to uncover the truth. He exposed the fake friends, the pretenders, and the ones who had been silently sabotaging my peace and my circle. It was painful, but it was necessary.

“2024 was the hardest year of my life, but it was also the year God drew me closer to Him. Through the ashes, He taught me resilience, faith, and the true meaning of grace. I don’t take it for granted that I’m alive today. To everyone who stood with me, prayed for me, and held me up when I had no strength left, thank you.

“Here’s to God’s unwavering faithfulness. If 2024 taught me anything, it’s that even in the darkest valleys, His light never stops shining.”
