Don Jazzy made this revelation recently while on podcast interview with music journalist Joey Akan.
On the podcast, Don Jazzy revealed that he didn’t just begin signing producers and songwriters with the present Mavin crew – it’s been a long-time tradition for him to sign music producers and songwriters to his label.
According to him,
there are a lot of hands involved in the development/creative process of an artiste and there’s no artiste that can do it successfully without these creatives (producers and songwriters).
“At Mavin we definitely don’t believe in the illusion that an artiste just wakes up in the morning and is an artiste. There is a bunch of people that makes it possible for artistes to be who they are,” Don Jazzy stated.
Afrobeats Intelligence: After 10 years of running Mavin Records, I took cameras and mics to Don Jazzy's house to hear his story.
We talk about his wins, losing his mum, letting artists go, and everything else.
