  • Putin to Trump: “Let’s hold next meeting in Moscow”

Putin to Trump: “Let’s hold next meeting in Moscow”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested holding his next meeting with President Donald Trump in Moscow, Russia’s capital city, after their high-stakes summit in Alaska wrapped up Friday without a ceasefire deal in the Ukraine war.

As the two leaders concluded their remarks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Trump thanked Putin and said they would “probably” meet again soon.

Putin, switching briefly to English, responded: “Next time in Moscow.”

Trump, smiling, acknowledged the political risk of such a trip. “Oh, that’s an interesting one. I’ll get a little heat on that one, but I could see it possibly happening,” he said.

Both leaders departed Anchorage shortly after the summit — Putin by plane following a stop at the Fort Richardson Memorial Cemetery to honor Soviet soldiers, and Trump aboard Air Force One for a six-hour flight back to Washington.

The Alaska meeting had been framed as a chance to negotiate an end to Russia’s war on Ukraine. Ahead of the talks, Trump had warned of “severe consequences” if Putin refused to halt the conflict, but he did not mention any new measures or threats during his post-summit remarks.

Trump also left unclear when a proposed follow-up summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might take place, though he told Putin, “We’ll speak to you very soon, and probably see you again very soon.”

  • Lawyer sues NCAA, others for N500bn over Emmanson, Kwam 1 infractions

Lawyer sues NCAA, others for N500bn over Emmanson, Kwam 1 infractions

Public interest lawyer, Ayodele Ademiluyi, has dragged the Federal Government and 12 others before the Federal High Court in Lagos, demanding N500 billion in damages over the what he described as a “blatant breach of the rule of law” in the handling of two aviation-related infractions involving Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, and passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson.

The suit, filed under number FHC/L/CS/1632/25, lists as respondents: the President of Nigeria, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ibom Air, ValueJet, the Nigerian Correctional Service, King Wasiu Ayinde, the Nigerian Police Force, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the state’s Attorney-General, and the Airline Operators of Nigeria.

Speaking at a press conference, Ademiluyi said the suit was filed to enforce accountability and protect the public interest. According to him, the issue transcends the personalities involved and reflects “systemic decay” in the nation’s aviation sector.

“Our aviation system needs a complete overhauling. We cannot allow impunity to reign or degenerate into a banana republic where someone can stop a plane with their bare hands and walk away without consequence,” he stated.

Ademiluyi accused authorities of double standards, stressing that while Emmanson was swiftly sanctioned and faced severe penalties, Kwam 1 was neither arrested, arraigned, nor prosecuted.

He added, “In fact, he was rewarded with a brand ambassadorship for the aviation sector. What message does that send to the public?”

The lawyer argued that Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo acted improperly by allegedly siding with one of the airlines instead of enforcing the law. He also criticised the Airline Operators of Nigeria for imposing a life ban on Emmanson, a sanction later withdrawn, describing the move as “unlawful and prejudicial.”

Ademiluyi is asking the court for an order of mandamus to compel relevant authorities to take appropriate legal action against those involved, especially Kwam 1.

“This is not about celebrity status or political connections, it’s about the sanctity of the rule of law. If someone can stop a plane with their bare hands and be appointed a brand ambassador, it sends the wrong signal. The judiciary must set a precedent that no one is above the law,” he said.

  • Hillary Clinton — “I’d nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize if he ends the war without forcing Ukraine to surrender land”

Hillary Clinton — “I’d nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize if he ends the war without forcing Ukraine to surrender land”

Popular Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said she would nominate President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he manages to end the Russia-Ukraine war without forcing Ukraine to surrender any of its territory to Russia.

Clinton, who ran against Trump in the 2016 presidential election, made the statement while reacting to ongoing discussions about potential peace negotiations.

She stressed that such an achievement would require significant diplomatic skill and strength.

“He is not meeting with a friend. He is meeting with an adversary, and an adversary who wants to see the destruction of the United States and the Western alliance,” Clinton said on the podcast Raging Moderates.

Clinton explained her reasoning, saying Trump “could really stand up to Putin to make it clear there must be a ceasefire, there will be no exchange of territory, and that over a period of time, Putin should actually withdraw from the territory he seized in order to demonstrate good faith efforts.”

She added, “If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.”

Reacting to Clinton’s remarks, Trump told Fox News, “Well, that was very nice. I may have to start liking her again.”
